This soft, dry, full-bodied Semillon exhibits slight mineral notes followed by aromas of apple and pear. Barrel aged for 6 months, it displays a rich creaminess on the palate with a hint of citrus on the finish.
Pair with grilled salmon or halibut, as well as an assortment of cheeses.

This wine comes from 20 year old vines in our Similkameen Vineyard in Cawston and from 7 year old vines in our Sunrise Vineyard in Okanagan Falls. The 2005 season started out with a cool and wet spring which resulted in a smaller yield with fewer berries. This was followed by a really nice and warm Okanagan summer perfect for good ripening. September and October was cooler which provided us with good acidity and allowed for fruit flavours to intensify and fully develop. A vintage with good concentration. The grapes were hand harvested on October 20th, a week and a half earlier than scheduled.

The grapes were whole-cluster pressed to add some additional complexity from the skins. Then the juice was split into a portion that underwent a cool ferment in stainless steel tanks for two weeks and the remaining portion was fermented and then oak-aged in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels for 6 months. The overall blend is made up of 80% oak-aged and 20% stainless steel, which creates a well balanced wine with good fruit characteristics and nice weight.

"For Semillon, the age of the vines is very important, as the older vines have more fruit and less astringency. This allows for a fruit-forward wine with notes of gooseberry and pear balanced by acidity and a touch of oak."
