RIESLING ICEWINE 2004
Summit Reserve

T A S T I N G   N O T E S

This rich intensely flavoured dessert wine was made from grapes picked and pressed frozen naturally on the vine. Aromas and flavours of tropical fruit, sugarcane, honeysuckle and melon are followed by an incredibly long finish.

Enjoy with apple pie, fruit pastries or as after dinner drink.

The grapes come from our Similkameen Vineyard in Cawston and from our Sunrise Vineyard in Okanagan Falls. 2004 started out with an early and seasonably warm spring and summer. The end of August brought a three week period of cool, rainy weather which slowed the growing season. In mid-September we were back on track with nice warm weather and an extended growing period. The berries were left on the vine waiting for cold temperatures which arrived on January 2nd, 2005 when the grapes were hand harvested.

"Hand harvested on January 2nd 2005 at -10°C temperatures. After harvest the grapes were gently pressed while frozen. The must then went through a very long and slow ferment followed by 3 months of barrel ageing".
