TThe Blaufrankisch grapes come from our Similkameen Vineyard in Cawston. The 2007 season started off with nice warm weather early in the spring, which was followed by a cooler period through mid-May, which in turn gave way to the nice hot summer we are accustomed to in the Okanagan. The warmth allowed the grapes to fully ripen. A cooler September helped develop good fruit flavours and acidity. Gewürztraminer is an early-ripening varietal and was hand-harvested on September 24th.

The grapes were harvested on October 16th and underwent a cold soak which provided the wine with good colour derived from skin contact with the grapes. Warm-fermented for 7 days in stainless steel tanks before being gently-pressed with minimal machine interaction. The wine then went into a mixture of new and used French oak barrels for 18 months to add additional depth and complexity to the wine.
