This is a delicious red wine that is loaded with aromas and flavours of dried cherry and raspberry. Bright acidity and lean tannins provide balance and length.
Serve with sweetly spiced Italian sausage, wine soaked goat cheese or tomato-based pasta dishes.

The grapes come from our Douglas Road Vineyard in West Kelowna, right next to our winery. The 2006 season started off with light steady rain in the spring followed by ideal summer weather with a short-lived heat wave at the end of July. It continued relatively warm into late September, which provided us with an extended growing season that allowed the grapes to further develop flavours and acidity.
The grapes were hand-harvested between October 25th and 27th.

The grapes went through a 3 day cold soak to extract flavour and colour from the skins. The juice was then fermented in stainless steel for 8 days followed by gentle pressing and aged for 17 months in new and used French oak barrels. A limited production with only 280 cases produced.

"Zweigelt is a great cool-climate grape that has wild cherry and red fruit aromas and is balanced by good acidity. I reduced the cold soak in order to reduce the amount of tannin extracted from the skins, making it a red that can be sipped on."
